What is a notary public?

Notaries public are commissioned by the state of Georgia for four year terms by the Clerk of Superior court, in their county of residence – in our case Lowndes County. A notary’s main function is to serve as a witness to authenticate the execution of documents and serve as an affidavit for declarations, oaths, and affirmations. A notary is a public officer constituted by law to serve the public for non-contentious matters.
